Can you paint pine paneling?

I want a change. My old pine paneling in my kitchen is very dated. Can I paint it? Also my kitchen cabinets are pine.

Can you paint pine paneling?
There is a product that is called Deglosser. You wipe in on paneling before you prime and it will take the gloss coat off of the paneling so that the primer will stick to it. You can skip this process but there will be spots that just wont stick and will peel off. So it is well worth the little more time it will take to do this step. You can also use it on your cabinets. Have fun.

P.S. Use a good primer that will one coat because pine soaks up a lot of paint.
Reply:Yes of course you can paint it, I would figure out what type of coating is on the pine, if it's a gloss or a stain? Then you need to find a paint that will adhere to that coating. When you go to purchase the paint at say a Home Depot or a Lowe's make sure to ask the worker in the paint section which brand is best for painting on the surface you want to paint on. But yes you can paint on pine.

Best wishes!
Reply:Sure. Just prime it with something like Kilz first. If it's knotty pine, you might want to take the trouble to fill and sand smooth the knots before priming and painting.
Reply:I believe you can.
Reply:Yep, prime then paint
Reply:You'll either need to sand them down or prime tham first with something like Kilz... Just be sure to wear a mask when doing either!

Once you're done, paint away :)
