Is it safe to burn pine in your house?

Like Pine 2x4's. I really just want to know if it's harmful to my health as well as my families.

Is it safe to burn pine in your house?
No. I would suggest you find an alternative wood source. The sap from the pine forms creosote in your chimney which can cause chimney fires and burn your house down.

Also, if enough of it is burned, the fumes from the burning wood can make you sick.

My father always tried to burn scrap wood in the fireplace but I had to stop him because he didnt realize that it made him sick, as well as the creosote issue.
Reply:Sure, just don't burn a Christmas tree, you'd catch the house on fire. Christmas trees just burst into a ball of flame. We burn boards all the time. Pine wood burns fast, fast, fast. It is non-aroma type of firewood and like the first answer said, it creates a lot of creote, soot and ash.
Reply:Only if throughly dry, over many months.

Otherwise the sap will accumulate in the chimney and create a fire hazard.
