Pine Tar...?

Why is pine tar used on a batter's helmet? I never got that.

Pine Tar...?
Pine tar on helmut is from a batter touching the bat, then adjusting their batting helmut. Just watch a while, you'll see them do it.
Reply:Simple: You put pine tar on your bat, then you put it on your helmet so you don't have to keep getting out the pine tar rag. You just rub your hands on your helmet Report It

Reply:pine tar isn't used on the batters helmet. it's from they're hands touching the helmet. the pine tar is used on the bat handles and on the hands of the batter for more grip. some guys just wipe it on they're helmet.
Reply:Pine tar lets you grip the bat better, some players keep it on their helmet, so when they touch the helmet it makes their hands sticky and they will have a better grib on the bat
Reply:Actually I always thought it was over the season they would touch their bats and get it on there, but after a certain point they would know that it was there if they needed more tar for their bat when they went up to bat.
