Why can't we eat pine cones?

Pine cones are plentiful and fall to the ground. Why don't we eat them? The must be good if they smell so nice. Has anyone eaten a pine cone or or pine needles?

Well, a pine cone has to come out the other end, too. That just doesn't seem pleasant. =X
Reply:I was wondering the same thing.. Maybe that Show "Survivor Man" can have an episode about that.. I figure maybe you could boil them up at first, and then eat them... Probably would still be chewey.. People must have tried to eat them, especially hard core campers or people that hike the Appalachian Trail.
Reply:well there are nuts/seeds that come out of some types of pine cones they go good when your cookem with rice like you would with almonds(or peanuts) on rice
Reply:Uh, we do. They are called pine nuts and are very, very popular in cooking.

  1. I have been eating pine cones for quite a while now as an immune booster and all appears to be working fine. I usually leave for about a week to macerate in honey.
You however have to chew it well to ensure that the fibre is fine enough for our delicate stomach to handle. I often top up with two glasses of water.
