Are pine needles from a christmas tree ok to eat/chew on?

I was sitting next to my christmas tree doing my homework and I decided to take a pine needle and chew on it. It tasted pretty good. Am I going to get food poisoning from this?

Are pine needles from a christmas tree ok to eat/chew on?
probably not, if it was poisoness, it wouldnt be sold as a "christmas tree" for families and children to be around.
Reply:Since we also eat pine nuts, there is probably nothing wrong with the nedles.
Reply:I don't know, but I wouldn't eat the tree needles, b/c it's not an accepted food source for humans.
Reply:no the chemicals in them ruin your teeth sometimes
Reply:No but I wouldn't eat the rest of the tree if i were you.
Reply:Now why would you want to eat pine needles?
Reply:Likely not, but in larger quantities, they could make you sick.
Reply:Yes...and so is lead....chow down!
Reply:No, that is the sap, it is like raw maple syrup. That would just be the glucose from it,

it's fine, don't worry just don't go overboard!
Reply:not sure
Reply:i chewed on stuff like that before and i got sick but not really sick
Reply:Move away from the tree slowly..that's right..slow now...Ok, Christmas tree eater rehab squad get them!
Reply:no, but why?
Reply:Make sure what kind of tree you have...Hemlock or that variety You WONT be a happy camper for Christmas. Ponderosa Pine especially not good to chew.
Reply:I guess it would be ok figuring that pine nuts which are often used in cooking and baking come from certain pine trees. But I personally would not eat them, think of the pain you may experience when the pine needles leave your body. OWWW!
Reply:as disturbing as that is, i cant say i didnt do that once..
Reply:are you a herbivore?
Reply:try them on your salads...yum.
Reply:You can actually make tea with it by cutting the tips (atleast that is what I've heard) but ur not suppose to eat it.
Reply:No, but there are almost certianly pesticides and other chemicals on it that you don't want in your body. You better stop.
Reply:Ive done it before and I'm fine (as fine as a person who puts random things in their mouth can be)
Reply:ignore those ignorant NOs, THEY ARE FINE TO EAT, though its best to just chew/suck on them then spit them out. Bear Grylls of Man VS Wild and The Boyscouts and the Armed Forces all agree, theyre a good source of vit C and moisture. i wouldnt make them a staple in your diet though, heh.
