Pine cat litter as Garden Mulch?

My cat uses Feline Pine scoopable litter, %26amp; I've heard that when it's ready to be tossed, you can use it as mulch in the garden.

#1: Will the residual urine kill or harm my plants?

#2: Because it's the scoopable clumping kind, will that prevent it from being "mulchable"?

Pine cat litter as Garden Mulch?
would not do this without some form of composting.

here's why... pine shavings require nitrogen to decompose. granted, there is nitrogen in the urine, but not enough to offset the N need for decompostion.

Further, pine shavings are prime food for termites.. obviously not good.

my final point would be that you're spreading cat crap around your gardens.. how nasty is that!! it may call other cats to use your yard as their new dumping grounds...

I wouldn't use it..
Reply:....Amonia which is an off product of urine I wouldn't put that in the garden UNLESS the ground needs some kind of acidity....

Im guessing so... -smirks- I think thats the best way to look into things... check that out online..
Reply:No for all the reasons already stated plus the fact you feed your cat meat? Its best to only use composted manures of any kind.
Reply:Since the urine isnt being placed directly on the plant or its leaves, it should be fine.

#2-Its biodegradable so it should be safe outdoors....
