Is the pine tree native to North America?

One of my daughter's friends told me this out of the blue yesterday, and I've been wondering. (The entire province of BC is devastated by the Pine Beetle.) My second question: who the f*ck planted pine and why is it better than cedar, fir and spruce? (the native species)

Is the pine tree native to North America?
Pine is a native species in N..A. More than one kind even.

The beetle problem is because of unusually dry conditions, in addition to an usually warm winter and early thaw.
Reply:And this is in R%26amp;S why!?!?!? If the Botanists are answering, why do you think the religious people would be interested?
Reply:Pines are an ancient species and native to everywhere, including Australia. FYI, cedar, fir and spruce are technically also pine.
Reply:Many pines are native to north america. Including the Jack pine and many bristlecones are also native to N. America.
Reply:Many species are native, but the loblolly has been moved into non-native areas since it grows fast and is good for pulp.

I live in Mississippi, which had its beautiful longleaf and yellow pines harvested away for homes and replaced by the ugly loblolly pines.
Reply:No

Pine is mentioned in the scriptures as being used on Solomons temple

Maybe Ponderosa Pine is native to North America

On a different note, why do people get uptight if a q. doesn't seem to match the category? Am I the only one who ever gets in a hurry and submits something before I chose the category or click on the wrong one and send it?

Lighten up on these trivial things, will ya?
Reply:Well, yeah, I think.
Reply:Yes Jesus made it so. Praise the Lord. All are Gods children.
Reply:I don't know but you asked in the wrong section unless if you are refering the trees as gods.
Reply:Wow...this makes two questions that don't belong in R/S I've seen today....that is...unless you're saying you worship the native trees and the invasive pine tree is like the native tree's version of Satan...
