Until we have their house built we have to keep the baby ducks (about 1 week old) in a plastic tote. It provides a good amount of room for them for the time being, them being so small. We clean the tote out every day and put down towels but towels only stay clean for so long. What kind of bedding should I use for right now. We have some pine straw out in our yard. Can I just use some of that for right now so we don't keep dirtying towels? The towels sometimes get too wet and I'm afraid that that will make them cold. We have the feeder, the waterer, and the light to make them warm. I just need to know if pine straw is ok to use for them. Thanks in advance.
Is it ok to use pine straw as bedding for baby ducks?
Its best not to, ducklings will eat it and can cause them to choke. Use peppy pads, they lower the smell a little bit too. And absorb to.
Have fun with the lil cuties
Reply:you can use pine straw / pine shaving. As long as it is not pre-used. You can get it at any pet / feed store. just make sure to replace it every time it get wet, dirty, smelly etc.
