Pine pet bedding, hamster safe? or hamster disaster?

I had my parents buy me some pine pet bedding, on the bag, its from brand Kaytee, Pine bedding and litter, with a thing on the side that says naturally fresh, its a good size bag, and i want to know if can harm my small hamsters, Gorby and Stalin, Russian dwarf hamsters, which should be more prone to respiratory problems because of their size, i still have some of their old bedding, not for a full bed change, but some, what would be the consequences of me putting this in their cage? should i mix it with some of the old stuff? it doesn't say it has scent oils or anything like that, but i just wanted to make sure no harm came to the hamsters.

Pine pet bedding, hamster safe? or hamster disaster?
it's sad when u have pet store managers giving false answers. especially since they r prone to respiratory problems the answer is NO. pine %26amp; cedar r both full of toxic oils. it can cause mild to severe skin irritation. it is not always immediate but it can even kill your pets. just as smoking can kill people--it's not always right away, and it's not every single one---but why risk it? carefresh %26amp; aspen are the best. both are available at pet stores, grocers, %26amp; walmart. ask your parents to return it.

Reply:not suitable for hamsters
Reply:Use Feline Pine Litter. It's pelleted and works super. No dust. When your pets soil, the pellet just breaks apart and you can scoop it and flush it. OMG, it is really good because it really absorbs all the odor. I have 3 ferrets so I know stinky. It's a great bedding, trust me, I've used sooo many different types of litter for my critters. I would not use pine chips. Those are soo harsh. The stuff I told you about you can get just about anywhere, usually in the cat section. It lasts a long time too because you only remove the soiled litter.

Reply:Pine bedding is fine for hamsters, just not rats. My hamster Oberon uses that all the time, rip some unscented kleenex into strips and put them into their cage and watch them go nuts. They will stuff the kleenex into their cheek pouches and use to line their nests. It's actually kinda funny to watch them stuff it
Reply:CareFresh is the best out there! and its eays to clean i used to work at petco and used only that on all our hamsters. its safe and wont harm them with harsh toxicins!
Reply:They should be okay with it.
Reply:just read all the fine print on the bag, we got a bag of stuff that
