Pine Tree Question?

I have a pine tree in my front yard, at the corner of my house. It actually touches the siding. It faces an area with little filtered light. I do not know what kind of pine tree it is. It does not have long needles, but more of spray of green on it. This tree was planted there before I bought the house and thats been about 10 years ago. It has not grown but maybe 6 inches. I really don't want it large--but I do not like it bare. Does it need more water? Can you tell me how to care for it? Its brown in some spots and the branches are often without green, resembling a Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

Pine Tree Question?
Yup! Your Pine tree needs not only some water, but water on a regulat basis, so here's what you do. Dig, rake, claw , or some how install a basin about 4' arcoss , around the Pine Tree, ( It sounds like an Allepo Pine.) You can make your basin below ground level, or above ground, it doesn't matter, what is important is that your new basin should hold about 20-25 gal. of water, if it doesn't turn your hose on an put it in the circle, does it overflow to soon ? Then burm it up at the overeflows, and work that bermed circle in until you've got a nice basin or well around your new tree ( I say new , because it's been in a coma for 10- yrs. and is about to be reborn!OK, hard parts over, give the tree a ("long slow drip") That being an amount of water coming out of your hose at a constant stream , but not more than that, it's not really supose to be a drip as much as just a constant little stream, but nothing more. Leave your hose set at that drip for a good 24-hours. That will get your new tree going again. Now, and from now on water your Pine tree once a month in the winter( not if it's snow, though) and twice a month in the summer depending on your elevation maybe more so in the summer. Now that you have given you Pine a deep watering with the drip, all you need to do for your regular waterings is fill up your well around the tree with water at the regular intervals and it will produce additional foilege and new growth , because that's what happy tree like to do. Gorget the fertilizer if you've got soil of any kind , it will grow fine.OK, but how much water should I be putting in the basin for my regular waterings, you ask?at least 25 gal. or so, imagine a 55gal. oil drum , and put in 1/2 that.%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Shazam.
Reply:sounds like you need to acidify the soil. Try putting your coffee grounds around the tree for a few weeks and see if it gets greener
Reply:sorry..i would take it out..if you water it and it gets bigger next to the siding could cause problems ... is a very bad place for a tree...
Reply:maybe it's dying of old age or it could need a good dose of acid like you would feed to laurels and rhododendron
